Met Eireann lists four types of weather set to hit Ireland as Atlantic system sweeps in with chance of snow
Met Eireann have warned that four different types of weather will hit Ireland this week - with the possibility that we haven't seen the last of the snow showers.
The country was covered by snow and ice over Valentine's weekend and while things were set to get a bit warmer, in a typically Irish fashion, we're going to get all four seasons in one week. This low pressure system will result in a spell of extremely unsettled weather, with wet and windy showers mixed in with sunny spells. But there's still a chance of snow to fall over the hills on Wednesday evening.
At the moment, the sun is shining across the majority of the island, though that is set to drastically change this evening. '''Early tonight, rain will move in from the southwest and will spread northeastwards across the country as winds increase fresh to strong and gusty, strongest in the west and northwest,' Met Eireann say.And the situation doesn't get much better as the week progresses - with the sun appearing again on Wednesday only for temperatures to drop below freezing overnight.
''Heavy rain will spread northeastwards over Ireland with a risk of flooding and some sleet or snow in places, mainly on high ground in the west,'' the forecast for Wednesday evening reads.
