The bad weather is set to get worse over the next week.
Tuesday will start off with sunny spells along with scattered showers. Cloud will thicken as the day goes on with rain spreading northeastwards across the country, becoming widespread before evening. Turning windy later with southerly winds increasing fresh to strong. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees.
Tuesday night: A wet and blustery night with widespread rain, turning heavy in places. Rain will clear into the Irish Sea with skies clearing however further showers will spread from the west. Fresh to strong southwest winds, strong near Atlantic coasts, will moderate in the south by morning. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees.Widespread showers and some bright or sunny intervals. Showers will be heavy or prolonged at times.
Wednesday night: Long clear spells will develop with showers becoming less frequent. A rather cold night with lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees in mostly light or moderate winds.Widespread showers again on Thursday, with longer spells of rain possible. Some heavy falls likely again in parts. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees.
Next weekend doesn't seem to herald a change in weather either, as the Met Eireann predict more"unsettled" conditions for Friday onwards.
