'Very cold into early next week as an Arctic airmass sets in, bringing sharp to severe frosts, and ice or black ice on roads and footpaths'
Met Eireann’s forecast for the remainder of the week consists of several weather warnings and an advisory in place as brutally cold conditions arrive along with some snow.
It states that: "A band of wintry precipitation will sink southwards with the potential for black ice/freezing rain on surfaces." Well scattered showers will continue to sink southwards this morning, turning wintry in parts with a light dusting of snow on some lower levels. Wintry showers will affect some northern and western coastal counties, and it will possibly be thundery near the coast. Highest temperatures ranging from 0 to 4C are expected, in light northwest or variable breezes.
Sunday will see temperatures struggling to rise above freezing for most with frost, ice and freezing fog persisting throughout the day.
