Highs of 27C can be expected
People across several regions in the country should brace themselves as a heat-health alert has been issued. This is also affecting the East Midlands, with temperatures predicted to reach 27C this weekend.
A yellow alert means that any impacts include the increased use of health care services by vulnerable populations and an increase in risk to health for individuals over the age of 65 or those with pre-existing health conditions, including respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. In Nottingham, cloudy skies will be predominant on Friday, June 23 and Saturday, June 24. Temperatures will reach 22C on Friday, and rise to 25C on Saturday.
