BREAKING: Met Office issues new and urgent 7-hour thunderstorm warning for Lancashire and Cumbria
Parts of Lancashire are set to be battered by thunderstorms today as the recent run of mixed weather continues.
. A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Heavy showers will develop quite widely later this morning and afternoon, hail and lightning accompanying showers in some places."Some of these showers will be slow-moving and 10 to 20 mm of rain is likely to fall in less than an hour in some places whilst a few spots could see as much as 20 to 50 mm of rain in 2 or 3 hours."
What to expect today The Met Office said 'heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to cause travel disruption and flooding.' They also warn:Today: A mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers. Showers could be heavy and slow moving, carrying the risk of hail and thunder. Light winds and feeling pleasant in the best of any sunshine. Maximum temperature 16 °C.
