The warning will be in place for most of the day
A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office, affecting the majority of Nottinghamshire . The thunderstorm warning will be in place on Tuesday, June 18, between 11am and 9pm.
The Met Office added that "some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes" is also possible, as well as some short term loss of power and other services. Some properties may experience flooding, which will lead to damage.Delays to rail services are also possible across Nottinghamshire. The Met Office said: "Showers developing later on Tuesday morning, becoming heavy with some thunderstorms through the afternoon and early evening.
To be prepared during the warning, the Met Office has also issued some advice people should follow. It says: "Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary. "People cope better with power cuts when they have prepared for them in advance. It’s easy to do; consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items.
