Meta has been fined over €250 million by the Irish Data Protection Commission for a data breach affecting approximately 29 million Facebook accounts globally. The breach, reported in 2018, exposed personal data including full names, email addresses, phone numbers, locations, and more. The Irish DPC cited a grave risk of misuse of data and reprimanded Meta for failing to adequately protect user information.
