Metrolink passenger arrested after he started smoking heroin on board tram - while stood in front of police

Police taught ‘three valuable lessons’ to a man riding the tram in Manchester city centre this morning.

By making the arrest, police say the man has learned ‘three valuable lessons’ — including not to take drugs.The tweet said: “This gentleman learnt three valuable lessons today:“3. Don’t smoke heroin on the Metrolink in front of plain clothes police officers. [Man] arrested and now enroute to custody.”

“Our officers will arrive unannounced at various locations,” GMP says of the project. “These patrols could last for different lengths of time and involve varying numbers of officers.
