Leeds United kicked off their 2024/25 season with a pulsating 3-3 draw at home to Portsmouth
Pundit Micah Richards remains confident Leeds United will secure promotion to the Premier League this season, despite the "sloppy goals" they conceded in their opening-day draw with Portsmouth. It took a late strike from substitute Brenden Aaronson to earn the Whites a point at Elland Road on Saturday.
The result has left Farke with plenty of food for thought ahead of their forthcoming Carabao Cup first round tie with Middlesbrough. Squad rotation is expected to come into play on Wednesday evening and Farke is likely to make wholesale changes with one eye on Saturday's trip to West Bromwich Albion.
Speaking on the latest episode of the The Rest Is Football podcast, former Manchester City defender Richards has backed Farke to lead United back into the big time at the second time of asking. “They had a chance to win it and make it 4-3 with the last kick of the game, Aaronson went one on one with the goalkeeper and slotted it wide. If Leeds can stop the rot at the back, I think Leeds will do it.”
