A number of Love Island stars have had famous relatives over the years, such as Dani Dyer, Sophie Piper and Tommy Fury. The summer 2022 cast is no different, with daughter of footballing icon Michael Owen - Gemma Rose Owen - taking to the villa as one of the first contestants.

16-year-old James had to put aside his long-term dream of being a footballer just like his father after he was diagnosed with a rare condition that causes serious vision impairment, and is considered clinically blind. His son James is still in school, and recently celebrated his Upper School Prom with his friends and peers, and is a very accomplished football player despite his condition.

Emily remains private about her personal life on social media, but her parents have been vocal about her talents, as Emily has competed above her age grouping in athletics for a number of years. "County u15 100m Champion. 2nd in North England. 6th in UK Championships. Not a bad season considering Emily is still only 13," Michael said in August 2021.

The Owen siblings’ parents met at primary school in 1984, and built their fortune through their careers. As such, the couple have been adamant that their children will make their own start in life rather than benefitting from their parent's collective wealth.
