Brendan Rodgers’s side could give themselves a powerful lift by getting the better of their fiercest rivals on Saturday
Michael Walker: Celtic seem stuck in that old cycle again - beating Rangers could help break itThe previous Saturday, after all, Celtic had lost 2-0 here against Hearts and the reaction was as you might expect. Given Celtic had lost the game before that – 2-1 at Kilmarnock – fans had zoomed through the zone of concern and were now expressing alarm.
“In my whole time here the first time,” Rodgers said of the negativity, “I never felt it. Never for a day did I feel it.Brendan Rodgers gestures to what was left of the home crowd following Celtic's win over Livingston. Once again it was 0-0 at half-time, Kyogo missing a great chance. Once again Celtic scored shortly after the restart and once again it was all over.
“Rubbish,” was Adams’s verdict on the standard he has seen since returning from League Two football in England with Morecambe. In the face of Glasgow’s dulling duopoly, it is notable therefore that Hibs and Hearts could still sell out an Edinburgh derby on Wednesday night and, in dreadful weather, Kilmarnock could take 1,540 fans to St Mirren. Scotland are at the European Championships in Germany next summer. There are positives.

Leading the tributes was President Michael D. Higgins, who said in a statement:"Like so many across the world, it was with the greatest sadness that I learned this morning of the death of Shane MacGowan. "Shane will be remembered as one of music's greatest lyricists. So many of his songs would be perfectly crafted poems, if that would not have deprived us of the opportunity to hear him sing them." He continued:"The genius of Shane's contribution includes the fact that his songs capture within them, as Shane would put it, the measure of our dreams - of so many worlds, and particularly those of love, of the emigrant experience and of facing the challenges of that experience with authenticity and courage, and of living and seeing the sides of life that so many turn away from." He said that MacGowan's words"connected Irish people all over the globe to their culture and history" and encompassed"so many human emotions in the most poetic of ways
