It's believed an improvised explosive device was used to try and murder officers
Sinn Féin vice president Michelle O’Neill has condemned an attack on two police officers in Strabane in what has been described as a ‘reprehensible’ act.
Police say a vehicle was damaged in the attack, and they believe an improvised explosive device was used, while a security alert closed off the Mount Carmel Heights area on Friday morning., with the First Minister designate saying they "will not succeed in dragging society backwards". “We must all unite against these reckless actions. We must keep building the peace and moving forward.”West Tyrone DUP MLA Tom Buchanan described the attack as "murderous" and said his thoughts were with the officers involved.
“I condemn this murderous incident. I am glad the police officers have survived this attempt to take life. My thoughts are with them and their families.”
