Michigan’s water crisis still isn’t over. Don't look away now.

.thereidout Blog: For those who don't live in or near Michigan, Michigan’s water crisis isn’t over — and it’s not just confined to Flint.

last week, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services encouraged residents to use bottled water for most activities, but noted that “unfiltered tap water” could be used for bathing, cleaning and washing hands, dishes and clothes.For those who don’t live in or near Michigan — or who may have thought Flint was the extent of the state’s water crisis — Benton Harbor is a reminder that the impacts of Michigan’s crumbling infrastructure continue to poison residents’ water supply today.

Last month, members of the Benton Harbor Community Water Council joined several advocacy groups, including the Natural Resources Defense Council, to the Environmental Protection Agency to step in because city and state officials had failed to protect residents from lead exposure.
