The RTÉ Concert Orchestra’s special Leonard Cohen 90th birthday celebration concert, featuring performances with Mick Flannery, Jess Kav, Suzanne Savage and Phelim Drew, will take place at the 3Arena on Saturday

Cork’s finest export Mick Flannery is gearing up for a night celebrating songwriting legend Leonard Cohen ’s 90th Birthday.

That is why I loved to come to Dublin and sing for an Irish audience.” Mick saw Cohen many years ago playing in Dubin, sharing that the songwriter had a deep connection with the Irish people.

Mick will perform four songs with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Who By Fire, Suzanne, Famous Blue Raincoat, and Happens To The Heart, from Cohen's posthumous album Thanks for the Dance - an album he listens to a lot. “I’m a big fan of his, the turn of phrase and he has a great sense of humour as well in his lyrics. There’s a lovely kind of air of not taking himself, in general, too seriously.”
