Election officials in parts of Florida that were hit by Hurricane Ian last week are scrambling to meet a Thursday deadline to send out absentee ballots ahead of the November election.

Other cities are working to develop backup plans in case they can't reach the deadline, and some are already working on options to restore or replace in-person polling places that were destroyed by the storm.
