.SenMikeLee urges SenatorRomney to offer endorsement in tighter-than-expected Utah Senate race
The plea comes less than four weeks before Election Day, when Lee is set to face off against McMullin, a onetime Republican who ran against former President Donald Trump in the GOP presidential primary elections in 2016. Romney has refrained from endorsing either candidate in the race, contending both Lee and McMullin are his “friends.”“I’ve asked him, I’m asking him again, right here, again,” Lee told Fox News's Tucker Carlson on Tuesday.
McMullin has attracted criticism from Republicans who argue the independent is a Democrat disguising himself as a conservative candidate. Sen. Ted Cruz and Fox News host Sean Hannity denounced McMullin as a “Romney Republican,” referring to Romney’s reputation as a centrist member of the party and a frequent critic of Trump.
“I know you wish I were a Democrat so Mike would have a better shot.
