BBC Radio 1 presenter Jameela Jamil has spoken out about being threatened by Miley Cyrus fans after criticising the sexual nature of her performances.

The Londoner said she was plagued with ‘terrifying’ sexual and death threats after criticising Miley Cyrus forJameela, who also presents TV shows for Channel 4 and BBC 3, said she is surprised by the way women treat each other in the media, commenting: “Women, especially a lot of pop stars, tend to treat it as if they are using it to empower themselves, taking ownership , taking the taboo out of it, when in fact what they are doing is perpetuating something created by men.

“Women’s bodies have always been used as a spectacle and objectified. This further perpetuates that.” The radio star seemed to get over the the initial backlash, having some fun on her Twitter account.
