Budget 2025 introduces a significant increase in Ireland's minimum wage, boosting earnings for thousands of full-time workers. The minimum wage will rise by 80 cents per hour, equating to over €1,600 annually for those working 40 hours per week.

From tomorrow, thousands of full-time workers will see a significant boost in their annual wages. As announced in Budget 2025 , the minimum wage will raise by 80c an hour. For anyone working 40 hours a week, they could be looking at an increase of over €1,600 from the 1st of January. Budget 2025 announced that, from 1 January 2025, the minimum wage for people aged 20 and over will increase by 80 cents to €13.50 per hour.

With over 160 thousand people estimated to be on minimum wage, it will be a welcome boost to many. While most employees are entitled to minimum wage, there are some exceptions. You are not entitled to get the national minimum wage if you are: There are different minimum wage rates if you're under the age of 20. The increase comes as a national living wage will replace the national minimum wage from 2026. The living wage will be set at 60% of the median wage in any given year. The national minimum wage will remain in place until the 60% living wage is fully phased in. The national minimum wage will increase over the years as usual. The rise in minimum wage is just one of a number of cost-of-living measures coming into effect from the 1st of January. The budget for 2025 was announced back on the 1st of October, and while certain measures, such as cost of living bonuses and lump sums, were paid in recent months, many more measures will come into effect from tomorrow. These include payment increases, tax changes, brand new grants and more. There will be an increase to core social welfare rates, a new Newborn Baby Grant and changes to income thresholds for payments among the new measures.
