On Monday, the Government announced fresh deterrent measures in an attempt to reduce the number of migrants, includingFrom early 2024, the maximum fine for employers will be raised from £15,000 to £45,000. For repeat breaches, fines will rise from £20,000 up to £60,000. Fines for landlords will also be significantly increased, with the penalty per lodger rising from £80 to £5,000 and per occupier rising from £1,000 to £10,000 for a first offence.
