Taoiseach Micheál Martin, Tánaiste Simon Harris and eight other ministers will travel to the United States for what is being touted as “extensive high-level engagement with the United States”
Ministers will find out where they are going for St Patrick’s Day at Wednesday morning's Cabinet meeting.
It is understood that the Tánaiste will stress that the St Patrick’s Day programme this year is “particularly important given the necessity to build partnerships with political leaders at federal and state level” in the US. While it is understood that an official invitation from the White House has yet to be received, it is expected that Mr Martin will travel to Washington DC where he will meet US President Donald Trump.
Elsewhere, the Taoiseach will update Cabinet on the cross-government programme to tackle child poverty and improve wellbeing. He will publish two progress reports, one from his Child Poverty and Well-being Programme Office and another on the impact of measures in Budget 2025 on children.
