Minors: Michel Baez helps Missions throw another no-hitter

Rounding up the action at the Padres’ minor league affiliates

After four pitchers combined for a no-hitter at Double-A San Antonio, Phillip Wellman had copies of the lineup printed up for each of the Missions to savor.What does Wellman know?win over visiting Midland on Wednesday night.

This time, right-hander Ryan Lillie started the game with four strikeouts and a walk over four innings, followed by two shutout innings from right-hander Michel Baez , two more scoreless innings from left-hander Osvaldo Hernandez and one more scoreless frame from Mason Fox .

The no-no was still intact after Fox issued a leadoff walk in the ninth because he immediately fetched a double play ball. The third and final out arrived on a ground ball to second baseman Chris Givin, who threw to first baseman Yorman Rodriguez to set off a second celebration on the mound in four days.
