Call The Midwife star Miranda Hart has opened up about her chronic health battle, how she's come out the other end and hopes to help others

Miranda Hart says she’s “found a way out of the dark” as she has opens up about the chronic illness that left her floored for 10 years.

Miranda will reveal all about the debilitating illness in her new book I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You, out on Thursday. Teasing what fans can expect, she told: “It centres on the passion – the inner fire – I’ve stoked over 10 very challenging years, shining a light on chronic illness and those who live with it as I have.

Miranda found fame with her self-titled BBC sitcom in 2009 and went on to star in Call the Midwife from 2012 until 2015 - but she did not return for the sixth series of the BBC drama following reports she was unwell. Hoping the book will help others touched by a similar experience, Miranda reassured fans that she is doing great now.

“My book is the story of a woman reaching midlife and coming to terms with an undiagnosed health condition. Though fear not, it’s a story of hope and redemption as well as something of a practical and philosophical guide for recovery from difficult conditions and situations. Spoiler alert: the woman gets well, and the woman is… me! Yes, it’s a memoir of sorts.”
