Former BBC presenter Huw Edwards has been spared jail after being handed a six-month suspended sentence.

The court heard that Edwards "does not pose a risk to people under the age of 18" and had "shown insight, shame and remorse".
Speaking before today's news of a suspended sentence, the ex-prison officer explained: "I think he would find it very difficult in prison after leading the life he has and after basically losing everything. I would imagine that if he is jailed, he will be kept a very close eye on by prison staff to ensure his safety not only from others but also himself." Edwards could have been placed under suicide watch, away from other prisoners.
