Liam Hannigan, a 34-year-old from Salford, went missing in Tenerife after losing contact with his family. His parents flew to the island to search for him, ultimately finding him safe. Liam requires medical attention before returning to Manchester.

A missing holidaymaker from Salford in Manchester, Liam Hannigan, has been found safe in Tenerife after his family launched an emergency search. Liam, 34, had been on holiday on the Spanish Canary Island since December 29 but had not been in contact with friends or family since Friday, February 7. His sister, Ellie, shared the news on Facebook yesterday evening, stating that their parents had successfully located Liam while searching for him in Tenerife.

He is now on his way back to safety with them, where he will receive the necessary medical care. Ellie expressed immense gratitude to everyone who had assisted during this difficult period, emphasizing that while Liam is safe, he still requires medical attention before returning to Manchester. Liam had been holidaying in the La Asomada area but had also visited friends in Los Cristianos, a popular tourist destination on the island. Recent CCTV footage showed Liam walking alone on Monday, without any belongings and without the means to pay for food or drinks. Prior to Liam's discovery, Ellie had shared her family's concerns on social media, stating that while relieved he was safe, the situation deeply worried them. Both the British Foreign Office and Greater Manchester Police had been supporting the family, along with Spanish authorities. Liam had been staying with friends he met after flying out for a holiday with his partner on December 29. Ellie had previously spoken to the Manchester Evening News about the family's desperation, highlighting Liam's strong family ties and emphasizing that his disappearance was highly unusual. She shared that their parents were flying out to Tenerife to search for him, appealing for any sightings or information that could help bring Liam home. The family's relief at finding Liam safe is evident in Ellie's heartfelt message of thanks to those who had offered support during this ordeal
