Shohei Ohtani, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Juan Soto headline the 2023 MLB All-Star pitchers and reserves, announced by MLB. Ohtani notches his third straight All-Star appearance after entering Sunday batting .306 for 30 HR and 67 RBI with a 3.02 ERA:
HBCU Swingman Classic — July 7 at 10:30 p.m. ET on MLB NetworkCelebrity Softball Game — July 8 after the Futures Game, on ESPNHome Run Derby — July 10 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPNAs of last year, the All-Star Game does not head to extra innings in the event of a tie after nine innings. Instead, teams take part in a best-of-three-round home run derby with three players from each team participating. Each player gets three swings, and whichever team hits the most homers wins the game.
“ very happy,” he said. “Every player that plays in the big leagues wishes to be selected to the All-Star Game and thanks to God, it happened to me again. I’m very happy for that. “It’s number three. I just need six more to tie my dad and if that happens, that’d be great. If it’s seven, even better. That’s my goal.”
Regarding what he likes about the event, Guerrero said the chance to “basically just spend time with other superstars in the game.”.
