Gardaí have launched a murder investigation following the horrific incident on South Anne Street, near Grafton Street, around 3am this morning

This is the shocking moment a masked man can be seen brandishing a knife in a horror incident that led to another man being stabbed to death on a busy Dublin street.

Another man, also in his 30s, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It is believed he also had knife injuries and is now recovering. Ash Thulseepersad, senior manager at The Gotham Café, said CCTV footage showed around 150 people in the area overnight. He added that he thought South Anne Street was a safe enough area. However, he said there were “drugs and booze going around last night” so “something was bound to happen”.

"We know the scale of vacancy and dereliction in Dublin city centre. Labour has consistently called for a serious, long-term plan to bring these spaces back into use, creating a city that feels safe, welcoming, and vibrant. But instead, Dublin is being left behind because of the political vacuum at the heart of decision-making.

Gardai say they are investigating "all of the circumstances" surrounding the death - and have now launched a murder investigation.
