Believe it or not, but June is here - and that means one thing - a new Monty Don blog.
Whilst we've had mixed weather, plants and flowers have been thriving in the recent sun and wet weather. But if you're keen on getting your grass sorted before planting more, you need to know about one crucial date.
Writing about grass cutting, the gardening expert, who penned The Gardening Book: Monty Don, revealed that whilst many people will get keen to get out in the garden and cut their grass, they need to wait or risk ruining your hard work. When you cut your grass for the first time, make sure you collect it and take it to the compost heap to stop it adding nutrition to the ground. This is because if you don't do this crucial step, it will encourage lusher, coarser grasses at the expense of the flowers, he explains.
