Ahead of International Women's Day, RSVP talk to Dr Mary Ryan about the barriers facing women in medicine as well as the research and funding needed into women's health conditions
As part of International Women's Day, RSVP wanted to look at all sectors of society, to find out how gender equal Ireland really is.
She says more research will lead to better treatment pathways for women, who have been suffering in silence for so long. "Endometriosis can be very tough, it is where the lining of the womb is outside the womb - it can be wrapped around the bowel, ovaries and other areas." Dr Mary says we have improved in terms of treating menopause but we still have a way to go with increasing awareness of the full range of symptoms.
