The physical activity sessions would take place at lunch time and as part of after-school clubs with cooking skills also on the agenda.

Coaches would deliver four-week blocks to every kid at Merrylee, Tinto, Ashpark, Darnley and Cleeves and Gowanbank Primary Schools.

Newlands, Auldburn Area Partnership approved £1,500 funding for the sports last week subject to the upcomingNewlands and Auldhouse community council also landed £700 to carry out Scout Hall improvements, which will see kitchen worktops and cabinet handles being replaced. A council official told the meeting: “That is a well used resource within that area. A range of different groups access the scout hal on a regular basis and it is need of improvements."

Newlands and Auldburn councillor Sean Ferguson, SNP, said “It is a well used hall. I had a look at the kitchen facilities before. They are tired – they need a bit of TLC.”A total of £2000 was approved for pupils to go to Glencoe.
