37-year-old swimmer from the US breaks world record on Paralympic debut; A new national sport?; Paris power couple; Klopp’s call-out as he takes in Games
Christie Raleigh-Crossley of Team United States after the women's S10 50m freestyle heats at the Paralympic Games on Thursday.
And good she is. Competing in heat two of the S10 50m freestyle on Thursday morning, Raleigh-Crossley clocked a time of 27.28, shaving 0.09 off the previous record that had stood since the 2016 Games in Rio. Not bad for a first Paralympic appearance. It was quite the result for Ní Riain considering her event of choice is the backstroke, and hopes are high that she’ll make it on to the podium in one of her three remaining events.
Well now the roles will be reversed, and it’s her turn to take a seat in the stands of that same stadium as Woodhall, a double leg amputee, competes in Paralympics.Football Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp watches on during the Women's 50m Freestyle S6 final on day one of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games at La Défense Arena.
