There have been a few new additions to the most popular baby names
The decision isn’t one that parents take lightly however as times and trends change, so do the most popular names parents want to give their youngsters.
Noah came in as the most popular boys' name for 2021, replacing Oliver from the previous year, meanwhile England and Wales' favourite girls name remains Olivia – a moniker that has been at the top of the list for six years in a row. He added that some names are being “endangered”: “Girls' names such as Glenda and Kerry, that were more common before, are also becoming endangered and we have seen less than five girls being named each year since 2018”.
James added: “Noah has replaced Oliver as the most popular name for boys in 2021, moving Oliver into second place and ending an eight-year reign at the top. Olivia remained the most popular girls name in 2021, having held the top spot since 2016.
