The Central Statistics Office has revealed their 2022 list of most popular baby names, with Jack and Emily taking the top spots.
For girls' names, Emily was number one, with Grace, Fiadh, Sophie and Lily taking the other top spots. This marks the fifth year in a row that Jack has topped the boy's names list. The name has taken the top spot nine out of the last ten years, beaten only by James in 2017. There was also the appearance of some new entries this year, with girl’s names Hailey, Phoebe, Ayda and Éala all breaking into the Top 100 for the first time. Éala also took the title for biggest jump in popularity, climbing 86 places since the 2021 list.
