He was doing over twice the limit
A motorist in Galway was caught going more than twice the legal speed limit on a day dedicated to speed compliance across the country.
During the 24 hour period of National Slow Down Day between February 28, 7am to March 1, 7am, GoSafe checked the speed of 173,811 vehicles across the country.In that space of time, the operator detected 628 vehicles travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit. A motorist on the N4 Drishoge Carrick-On-Shannon Roscommon was found speeding at 92km/h in a 60km/h zone, while another on the Monaghan Road Castleblayney in Monaghan was clocked at the same speed of 92km/h in a 60km/h zone.
