The wet and thunderous conditions can wreak havoc on our cars
Many parts of Scotland and the rest of the UK were pelted with heavy downpours of rain and even thunderstorms at the weekend.
A spokesperson from the International Drivers' Association has said that motorists should take care to have a good look underneath their cars after it rains. Drivers should also take extra precautions if there has been any lightning, as the strikes can potentially cause huge damage to vehicles. The final check that drivers should make after heavy rain is for any flooding. If the thunderstorm results in heavy rainfall and the area where the car is parked is prone to flooding, there is a risk of water damage.
