With Storm Eowyn set to bring high winds, heavy rain, and snow to Ireland, authorities are urging motorists to take precautions. The Met Office predicts severe travel disruptions and advises drivers to follow the 'TRIP' guidelines: Top-up essential fluids, Rest frequently to avoid fatigue, Inspect vehicle condition, and Prepare for potential severe weather.

Motorists are being urged to take four crucial steps ahead of Storm Eowyn's arrival in Ireland this week. The Met Office has warned that the storm could bring gusts of up to 90mph in some areas, with snow and heavy downpours also predicted. Travel conditions are 'likely to be severely disrupted in the coming days', according to the Met Office. Mark Nash, duty manager at National Highways, said: 'We are expecting high winds and rain to hit most parts of the country later this week.

If you're planning to drive over the next few days, prepare in advance for the journey and take extra care on the roads. If weather conditions become challenging, adjust your driving behaviour to manage the conditions as safely as possible.' He added: 'We have a section of our website dedicated to travelling in storms, high winds and gales, and considerations for different types of vehicles, as part of our guide to travelling in severe weather.' Drivers are being reminded of the acronym 'TRIP' to help them remember the steps they should take in the coming storm, as per Birmingham Live. The four simple steps you should take before journeys on motorways or major A roads include: • Top-up: Fuel, oil, and screen wash • Rest: Plan regular stops every two hours to avoid driver fatigue • Inspect: Check tyre pressure and tread • Prepare: Have a plan for severe weather conditions. The Met Office has issued several weather warnings for snow, rain and wind
