His dad Paddy, Bridget his mum, his brothers Patrick and William, sisters Rachel, Lorraine, Katelyn and Annabelle and the many cousins, friends, aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

“Reading some of the condolences it seems his teachers have great memories of Joe. His cheeky smile. A smile can be such a powerful thing in life. A smile can make a great difference. He was good humoured, helpful and kind as well. He was always in class willing to help and give a hand. These are the memories and so many more memories people have of Joe. Please God these memories will keep us going through these sad and very difficult days.

Photographs of the teenager in happier times were displayed on the altar with tributes such as “Rest in peace my baby brother Joe” and “The one and only Joe Carthy, forever young, only 14. You are loved and missed. I’ll cherish all the memories we have and all of the TikTok lives of a night time, the laughs we had. I’ll always remember our chats and laughs. Joe, gone but never forgotten”.
