BREAKING Brexit: MPs vote to force Theresa May to seek Article 50 extension by ONE vote
MPs have voted to force Theresa May to seek an extension to Article 50 and prevent a no-deal Brexit by just one vote.
It was the first time in 26 years that a vote in the Commons has been a draw. The motion was defeated on the casting vote of the Speaker, John Bercow. And furious Brexiteer Mark Francois was similarly outraged, saying: "The public won’t be impressed by this." The Bill will undergo further scrutiny in the Lords at a later date, potentially as early as Thursday. She said: "It requires the Prime Minister to put the motion to Parliament proposing an extension to Article 50, it asks the Prime Minister to define in the motion the length of the extension. Parliament can debate the motion, can seek to amend it in the normal way and the conclusion is binding on the Government.
