Mia Chapman is a 19-year-old utility terrain vehicle racer. Having started with karting at age six, she's now trying to prove herself in the world of pro motorsport.
On a wild, woodland hilltop in northeastern Tennessee, a man in a gold jacket and matching cowboy hat paces a broad patch of dirt, gesturing up to an increasingly moody sky."Are y'all ready for some racing?" he bellows into the microphone in his hand.
In front of him sit three rows of squat, rugged, open wheeled vehicles with roll cages, their engines burbling and rasping. Above him, the rain that had been threatening all morning begins to cascade down. Around him, spectators huddle under whatever shelter they can find or simply stand and get wet. This is the Red Bull Stone Scramble, in the heart of Appalachian Mountains, and the vehicles are UTVs, or Utility Terrain Vehicles. Things are about to get very muddy indeed.
