People are being evacuated from their homes following the eruption which took place shortly after 8.30pm this evening.
Emergency services raced to the scene on Dulwich Road, Kingstanding shortly after 8.30pm.The cause of the blast and how many people have been injured in the incident is unclear, officers have confirmed.
A video showing the aftermath of the eruption has been shared on social media in which car alarms can be heard sounding.In a statement, West Midlands Police said: "One house is destroyed with others significantly damaged."There are reports of casualties but the number and severity of their injuries is unknown at this time."People in the area must immediately follow the instructions of first responders."Please help us by avoiding the area.
