A car crash in Longford resulted in serious injuries to the male driver and non-life threatening injuries to a juvenile female passenger. In a separate incident, a car crashed into a tree in County Westmeath. The Irish authorities are also dealing with a power cut that led to the cancellation of a show at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre. Meanwhile, solicitors are considering a strike over a new legal fees scheme and patients can now dispose of unused and outdated medicines at any pharmacy.
Gardaí investigating a car crash in Longford are appealing for witnesses. A car collided with a hot tub in a residence in the area of Ballymahon Road, Longford.
The incident occurred around 10:20pm on Friday. The male driver, a 40-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Regional Hospital Mullingar. He was subsequently transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where he remained in critical condition on Saturday. The female passenger, a juvenile, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was being treated at Regional Hospital Mullingar.
Gardaí are particularly interested in speaking to road users who may have captured the incident on camera. They are also urging anyone with information to contact Longford Garda station or the Garda Confidential Line. The Gardaí are dealing with two other separate incidents as well. A car crash occurred on the M4 motorway near Longford, resulting in a male teenager being left in a critical condition after being involved in an e-scooter crash.
Additionally, a car collided with a tree in County Westmeath, leaving a male in his 40s with non-life threatening injuries.
