A large police presence has been reported in the area
Multiple police cordons have been put in place in Leigh with parts of Manchester Road closed. Police were called to the area late on Thursday .
One of the cordons stretches from Patterdale Road to Sandersons Croft. At last two other police cordons are also reportedly in place on Manchester Road. Several other roads in the area have also reportedly been closed. On social media, witnessess say five police vans were seen on Chapel Street and the National Police Air Service helicopter is also said to be above this area, with a searchlight.We have contacted Greater Manchester Police for more information.
