Several lucky scratchcard winners, including a Kildare man who won €100,000 on Christmas Eve, have recently collected their prizes at National Lottery HQ, marking a successful start to the new year for many Irish players. Their heartwarming stories of disbelief, celebrations, and dreams for the future showcase the life-changing impact of the National Lottery.

It's been a whirlwind start to the year for National Lottery HQ as multiple big scratchcard winners flocked to collect their life-changing prizes. Among them was a Kildare man who found himself in a state of disbelief on Christmas Eve when he scratched off a €100,000 prize on a €5 Money Multiplier scratchcard purchased from SuperValu in Naas. An unlikely trip to the shop for a new car voucher led to his incredible win. 'It was exactly 4.

30pm on Christmas Eve, and I had just got home from the shops, getting ready to go socialise with my friends,' he recounted. 'I carefully scratched the card and saw the €100,000 win - I fell to the floor crying. I just couldn’t believe it.' Being home alone at the time, he made a call to share the news, only to be met with disbelief by his friends. Unable to trust himself or his surroundings, the winner decided to take drastic measures to ensure the safety of his winning scratchcard. He drove over to his friends' house and together, they wrapped the card in tinfoil, placed it in a lunchbox, and hid it in the attic. 'I didn’t trust having the scratch card in the house, so I drove over to my friends. We got tinfoil and wrapped the card in it, put it in a lunchbox, and hid it in the attic. In hindsight, it was a great hiding spot until I rang the Lottery in the New Year to claim my prize,' he said with a chuckle. Fast forward to the New Year, and the Kildare man was still unsure if his big win was real. He recounted the nail-biting experience of retrieving the ticket from his friend's attic – an endeavour that almost resulted in an injury. On his second attempt to claim the €100,000, he finally had the winning ticket in hand. 'I rang Martin, with the card in my hand, calling out the validation code. He left it too long for my liking to confirm the win, because the couple of seconds of silence felt like half an hour. I started to doubt the win, I was starting to break a sweat, until he congratulated me, and the celebrations kicked off again!' he exclaimed. The lucky winner plans to use his newfound fortune to clear his car loan and ensure his family's well-being. Meanwhile, Dublin was buzzing with excitement as a local man collected the €200,000 top prize from the All Cash Spectacular scratch card, purchased from Spar on 199 Decies Road, Ballyfermot. A heartwarming story unfolded as a family syndicate of five from Mayo also made their way to Lottery HQ to claim an incredible €100,000 prize. Their journey to fortune began with a Money Multiplier scratch card gifted during a wedding anniversary celebration. The winning ticket was purchased at Kavanagh’s SuperValu in Castlebar. While they have no immediate plans for their windfall, they dream of planning an unforgettable holiday together. In Donegal, a man struck gold with a €50,000 win on an All Cash Extravaganza ticket bought in Convoy's Post Office in Lifford. Adding a twist of fate, his car broke down on the way home from the store, but his spirits soared knowing his newfound fortune would cover the cost of a new one. Finally, a Wexford woman had her own exciting moment, claiming €30,000 on an All Cash Tripler scratch card purchased from Spar in Blackwater. It was a close call for this winner as her husband almost ripped up the card thinking it was a non-winner – a reminder for all scratch card players to pay close attention to the game! These lucky winners highlight the life-changing possibilities that come with playing the National Lottery.
