Holly Hartley's family are hoping to raise funds to keep her alive
The family of a former headteacher are hoping to raise tens of thousands of pounds to keep her alive following a devastating diagnosis in the United States. Having previously been diagnosed with a rare form of thyroid cancer earlier this year, mum-of-two Holly Hartley had travelled to Florida hoping to benefit from a self help retreat.

Medics eventually diagnosed her with poorly differentiated thyroid cancer at stage four, with the cancer having spread to her lungs.
"If you have treatment in America, and you've not got medical insurance, unless you have paid for that treatment you are not going to get any more treatment." Holly is currently in the MD Anderson hospital, in Houston, which is a world centre of excellence for her rare cancer. Alan said: "We've not seen her, the kids haven't seen her for that long. She's going to be there for some time trying to sort everything out before she can come home. Everyone is ringing me, texting me, I'm trying to sort out the life insurance, all the other stuff. It's really hard. She's in America, I'm here, it's mad."
