Mum battling cancer forced to come out of retirement thanks to cost of living crisis

After dedicating the last 25 years to the service industry one woman with cancer has been forced to come out of semi-retirement thanks to the cost of living crisis and its impact on families and businesses.

"My family have had to chip in, my daughter is a teacher and during the summer holidays, she comes and works here, my other children also help and do shifts where they can. I don't know if it's the hours and people don't want to do them or it's because staff left the industry during the lockdown. It's been so hard.

"But now we don't have the staff, I'm finding myself behind the bar more and more, which I don't mind, but it puts me at risk. My husband worries about me. She admits this is not ideal says but 99 per cent of customers don't mind as long as staff are honest about the wait and keep them updated with their order.
