A boy has missed his first eight days of school - because the local council hasn't provided transport to get him there. Carter Birks, six, is autistic and non-verbal, while also suffering from hypermobility.
Autocab claims it has received a "significant volume of enquiries from concerned parents" who had been told by the authority that the firm would provide transport for these kids. Autocab says it has not been told to take Carter, or other kids, to school. “We live in Longton and it’s two bus journeys to Merryfields. It would take us two-and-a-half hours to get there and two-and-a-half hours back. How am I going to do that in a day? I would probably have to start off at about 6.30am to get him to school for 9am and I just can’t.
