Mum met attack 'mastermind' days before her ex-husband was found 'murdered', jury told
A mum on trial accused of the murder of her ex-husband met up with the alleged 'mastermind' of the attack days before her former spouse was 'tortured to death', a jury heard.
Mr Belfield is also said to have been motivated by 'hostility' towards Mr Campbell because he was in a new relationship with Mr Belfield's ex-partner. He and Ms Campbell were said to have been 'apparent strangers' before he messaged her on Instagram a week before Mr Campbell was found dead. Mr Belfield arrived on Arbroath Street in Droylsden in a black Range Rover, while later, at 1.37pm, Ms Campbell pulled up in a VW Tiguan. The jury were told that Mr Belfield appeared to pick up an object from the Range Rover, before he walked over to the Tiguan and sat in the front passenger seat next to Ms Campbell.
"The prosecution’s case is that this was exactly what they were discussing." The jury heard that later that day, at about 7.30pm, CCTV showed Thomas and Coleen Campbell appearing to have an argument outside Ms Campbell's home in Clayton.
