They also can’t establish a checking account or receive local public services such as health care.showed that over 80,000 people in Columbus lack proof of identity. Because that number is so large, our organization has been pressing City Council to establish a local municipal ID program.
A “See the Need” tour for local officials and non-profit leaders to hear directly from social services agencies serving people who urgently need a photo ID; andallowing local leaders to learn how New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and Cincinnati describe the advantages of the municipal ID programs they are operating.We urge you to decide for yourself if a municipal ID program can help make “welcoming” a reality for those 80,000 people in our community who need its benefits.
