'It's bittersweet, seventy-six minutes into the game we are just two points down,' says skipper Diarmuid Barron
Munster almost caused a huge upset against the All Blacks at Thomond Park before two late tries pushed the scoreline out to a cruel distance.
"You don't think you're going to come away with that scoreline at the end. There are loads of positives to build on. Barron's throw found Peter O'Mahony's safe hands each time, the first on the left-hand side, and which was the precursor to five surges at the line before Ethan Coughlan spun to Tom Farrell, who's feed saw Mike Haley cut through a narrow gap.
Tom Farrell accounted for Munster's fourth try, Niall Scannell surging through the defence and off-loading to his centre partner who reached out in a double-tackle to touch down. "We had a lineout on the halfway line with five minutes to go, we lose the lineout, they score, they're a clinical side. But tonight's not about them, it's about us pulling together as a club this week.
All Black second-row Fabien Holland took the Man of the Match award which was judged by NZTV commentators; Munster fans might have picked John Hodnett or Diarmuid Kilgallen.
