The preparations came as the Pentagon is expected to deploy National Guard troops to Washington, D.C.
The series of tweets said that D.C. law enforcement officials were"prepared for potential demonstrations."
While the truckers have not started gathering in the city yet, officials have said that protests in the coming weeks from a number of different trucker convoys are likely. This includes reports that some truckers will be arriving for PresidentOne of the leaders of the Freedom Convoy, Kyle Sefcik, also released a video, addressed to President Biden, saying that:"Our routes meet here, in D.C., on March 1 in time for your State of the Union address.
Representative Thomas Massie has called Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser a"tyrant" after the city announced mitigations in an attempt to quell violence at the U.S. Capitol from incoming trucker protestors.
