Police believed the find was a “bereavement box” -- a small urn that police believed contained the ashes of a baby boy, along with handmade baby clothes, clay footprints and handprints and a hospital bracelet from a hospital in Memphis. Pictures of the find made their way to social media. According to Daphne police Sgt. Jason Vannoy, the box was an attempted burial at sea of the remains of a stillborn child, which was carried back to shore by the bay waters.“We, of course, understand that it was a very emotional situation, and we’re gonna give them the room that they need to make their decision,” Vannoy said.
